RIPON, CA – July 11, 2013 – On June 28, 2013, 22 Accessible Road Trips; Driving Vacations for Wheelers and Slow Walkers received a bronze award in the travel guide category at the ForeWord Reviews 15th Annual Book of the Year Awards. The announcement was made at an evening awards ceremony at the American Library Association Annual Conference in Chicago, Illinois.
Author Candy B. Harrington was thrilled to hear that her book was included among the award winners. “I think it’s great that an accessible travel title can compete on a level playing field with mainstream travel guides. It shows just how far accessible travel has progressed over the years.”
Published in July 2012, 22 Accessible Road Trips is the world’s first inclusive road trip book. It features a collection of themed driving routes and includes information about accessible lodging, sights, trails, and attractions along the way.
The ForeWord award winners were selected by dozens of librarians and booksellers who are experts in the genres they judged, and who make purchasing decisions daily for their collections or bookstores.
